Melinda Ferguson sprang onto the local literary scene with her hard hitting best selling memoir, Smacked A harrowing journey of addiction to recovery (Struik/Random House) in 2005. The book was shortlisted for a Bookseller’s Choice Award and has gone onto become the go-to book in local junkie lit . In 2005 she released her second best selling memoir, Hooked Secrets and highs of a sober addict. She completed her memoir trilogy in 2015 with Crashed How Trashing a Ferrari Saved my Life, published by MFBOOKS Joburg, another no-holds barred bestseller. Ferguson has also co-written and published three biography memoirs: The Kelly Khumalo Story (2012), Oscar An Accident Waiting to Happen with Trish Taylor, and her recent much anticipated collaboration with Lindiwe Hani, Being Chris Hani’s Daughter which has captured the public’s imagination.

Melinda offers fortnightly writing workshops in her newly adopted home city Cape Town. With an emphasis on the personal and the power of transformation through writing, her writing workshops also focus on: getting published, structuring your book, and killing the negative inner critic. Due to huge demand, Melinda offers quarterly Writing Weekends in Johannesburg.
Melinda is in high demand as a speaker on the corporate and social circuit. Her clients include ABSA, NEDBANK, SANLAM and ESKOM. Her story of addiction to survival and ultimately triumph has inspired thousands over the last decade.
